BENEFITS
The Art of Prenatal Massage

As you moms-to-be know, most pregnant women feel discomfort and added stress on their bodies at various points in their pregnancies. That may be why you have discovered and benefitted from the art of prenatal massage.

This unique massage incorporates different disciplines such as Swedish, Shiatsu, and Reflexology. It guarantees you are left feeling relaxed, grounded, relieved of your stress and buoyed with energy all at the same time.  And when you are feeling good, that translates to your baby so he or she will feel good.

What is prenatal massage?

Massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of the childbirth experience. Massage improves circulation and thus relieving swelling in legs, feet and hands.  It alleviates strain on weight bearing joins provides relief from muscle spasms, general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.
Testimonials

"A massage from Susan Polano is the best gift that any pregnant gal can ever give herself...scheduling one every two weeks during your whole pregnancy is even better, and that is exactly what I did! Being pregnant (and all that comes with it) can be hard not only on you physically but also on you mentally!
Susan not only relieves all your body tension but also provides a peaceful oasis to calm your nerves and ease your mind. There is just something about Susan; she is knowledgeable, genuine, relaxing, reassuring and is always available to give lots of great advice!
I would highly recommend treating yourself to a regularly scheduled massage with Susan during your  pregnancy...believe me it will make a world of difference to your journey and will be something you REALLY look forward to every other week :)
Thank you for everything Susan...can't wait for our first post-natal massage!!" - Andrea C, General Manager

"I have been a client of Susan's for a couple of years now.  She has always been a wonderful massage therapist. Now, we have changed our massage sessions because of my pregnancy (I am currently 34 weeks).
I have found that regular massages with Susan have helped me get in touch with my changing body." Theresa M, mom of bouncing baby Joshua.
"A massage with Susan have been pampering at a time when one really needs to be able to take care of oneself and the child inside. She has also been able to help release and relax joints that in the past had been a bit of a concern but now it's really important to monitor them with the changes in my body's weight, posture and usage.
She also was able to help alleviate some of the symptoms of pregnancy (swelling, indigestion, nausea). Susan knows her stuff!  Anyone who works with her is in good hands."
Thanks Susan.
Lynda, 34 weeks pregnant
Benefits of prenatal massage

In addition to the fact that massage during pregnancy just plain feels good, there are many other benefits for the mom-to-be and her baby, too. A study conducted by Dr. Tiffany Field at the University of Miami School of Medicine showed that massage actually reduces stress hormones in the body. Touch is vital to the mother's physical and emotional well-being as she adapts to her new body image. Regardless of individual circumstances, a pregnant woman's body is challenged, changed and stressed in many ways. Massage gives special attention to the mother-to-be, which in turn nurtures the new life that grows within her.

Massage relieves many of the discomforts experienced immediately after birth and helps return the client’s body to its prepregnancy state.
Since I specialize in working with moms-to-be, I am quite understanding to sudden nausea, frequent bathroom breaks and other issues that are unique to this situation.

Reflexology: Reflexology is a form of bodywork based on the application of pressure to the feet, hands, or both. Pressure to reflexes found on the feet and hands can affect the regions of the body to which they correspond, including organs. This modality is extremely soothing and relaxing.

All treatments include essential oils (if desired at no extra cost) that are specific and safe for pregnancy.
